Description For Senior Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations division is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'll serve as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems. The role requires expertise in PLC programming, automation engineering, and robotics control systems.

The position offers the opportunity to work with Amazon's cutting-edge fulfillment center technology, ensuring millions of customers receive their orders with Amazon's signature speed and accuracy. Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Serve as site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate with various teams to support MHE systems optimization
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide second-level escalation support
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines to stakeholders

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 4+ years of PLC programming experience
  • 2+ years of process/production environment PLC-controlled automation experience
  • 2+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience
  • 2+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic programming experience
  • 2+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components experience
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
