Description For Senior Automation Engineer

Operations is at the heart of Amazon's business, delivering tens of thousands of products worldwide daily. The Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team works behind the scenes to ensure smooth operations. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers. You'll work with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems. The role involves troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'll mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems.

The position requires expertise in PLC programming, automation engineering, and robotics control systems. You'll collaborate with various teams including Operations, Engineering, FC Start-up Team, and Safety to support MHE systems optimization. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting sophisticated material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.

Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Engineering teams, and other departments
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide second-level escalation support
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 4+ years of PLC programming experience
  • 2+ years of process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation experience
  • 2+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience
  • 2+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic programming experience
  • 2+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components experience
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
