Server Engineer | Data Center Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Server Engineer in the Data Center Operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing the world's largest Computing Infrastructure.

Your role involves hands-on management of hardware lifecycle in our IT infrastructure, including installing and removing server racks, fixing various IT hardware and network components, and responding to emergent situations. You'll work as part of the Operations team, whose primary responsibility is the maintenance and upkeep of the data center infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

• Meeting customer service level agreements by resolving problems
• Being the first line touch point for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues
• Performing on-call duties and participating in Data Center operations
• Handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives
• Maintaining and servicing data center infrastructure equipment

You'll work in a rotating shift schedule (4 days on, 3 days off) with 10-hour shifts. The role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You'll be part of a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with technical systems
• Working knowledge of Linux/Windows systems and server hardware
• Basic networking knowledge
• Ability to work rotating shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data center facilities
• Linux certifications (RHCSA, CCNA, or equivalent)
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python)
• English & Japanese communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
