Description For Software Development Engineer, Builder Issues and Discovery

Come and join a team of dedicated, friendly engineers building and operating enterprise-scale, mission-critical, multi-tiered and multi-region web applications using React, GraphQL and the tools that are well out in front on the technology wave. This is a unique opportunity to join a team with products for ticketing and engagement web applications used across Amazon.

You will be part of the team growing the feature set, and seeing us through exponential growth of our customer base. You'll be responsible for every aspect of the software development cycle such as designing, developing, managing and delivering scalable and highly available websites. You will be contributing to defining best practices for front end development and writing high-quality, efficient, testable code.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Adding new features towards simplified and accessible user experience for tickets resolution and engagement
  • Identifying and delivering scaling improvements that isolate and minimize risk to customers
  • Improving infrastructure automation to reach new regions and reduce manual operations
  • Creating proofs of concepts and reviewing designs with principal engineers and customers
  • Managing delivery timelines that enable customers to align to your delivery schedule

You'll be working with engineers, UX designers, and product managers across teams to develop user-friendly UI experiences. The team is part of the Builder Issues and Discovery organization, providing software platforms, web services and web apps used by more than 150,000 unique users every day.

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in the lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in the highest geographic market, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

  • Design, develop, manage, and deliver scalable and highly available websites

Requirements For Software Development Engineer, Builder Issues and Discovery

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred)
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (preferred)
  • 2+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience (preferred)
