Description For Software Development Engineer II, Software Defined Network Control Plane, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a Software Development Engineer II in the SDN Control Plane team, you will be at the heart of designing, building, and operating a massive satellite constellation and terrestrial network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering a modern, flexible, scalable, high throughput, low latency network architecture
  • Implementing planning and scheduling of network links at scale
  • Developing highly-available software for networking control plane operation
  • Defining and automating processes for software development, testing, and maintenance
  • Providing operational excellence for control plane services
  • Developing software using AWS microservices

The SDN Control Plane team is building the brain driving the Kuiper Network, tackling tough problems presented by a dynamic network at global scale. You'll be responsible for ensuring the network works and delivers a one-of-a-kind experience to customers.

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including equity and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year to $223,600/year, depending on factors such as location and experience.

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee/asylum status due to export control laws
