Description For Software Development Engineer, Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) - Magellan

Looking for a green field, high impact new initiative to exercise your imagination and design skills? Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, offering a rich array of digital advertising solutions with the goal of helping our customers find and discover anything they want to buy.

We are seeking engineers for a confidential new advertising program that will have significant strategic impact on the Amazon Ads business. In this role, you will:

  • Work backwards from customers and collaborate with technical teams across Amazon Ads to design and implement solutions
  • Deeply analyze results and evangelize new features
  • Communicate technical priorities to senior leadership
  • Prototype and develop new components using the latest event-driven and server-less technologies
  • Develop both real-time and petabyte-scale big data systems
  • Design, launch, own, and evolve software that serves both customer and advertiser interests
  • Work closely with scientists and economists to invent, build, and iterate on ML-based approaches

You'll face some of the toughest and most inspiring challenges of your career as you invent a new value proposition, real-time systems, big data paradigms, and scale for extreme growth.

A typical day involves designing and setting up new services, integrating with partner teams, and running spike efforts to plan future initiatives. Expect to drive multiple initiatives as you gain experience in this exciting and dynamic space.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
