Description For Sr. Embedded Software Engineer, Kuiper Government Solutions

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of 3,236 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, aimed at providing high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer on the Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) team, you'll be at the forefront of developing embedded software for satellite and ground systems.

The role involves working with fault-tolerant, real-time platforms and collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and product teams. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing secure, reliable, and high-performance solutions that will shape the next generation of space-based communication systems. This position specifically supports critical government initiatives, enabling secure communication systems for U.S. and allied missions.

You'll work on cutting-edge technology, developing embedded software using modern frameworks for both Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms. Your responsibilities will include implementing low-level drivers, working with various hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, PCIe, UART, GPIO), and ensuring system reliability through rigorous testing and optimization.

The position offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team at KGS, focusing on developing targeted and scalable solutions for custom satellite and ground applications. You'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from initial design to implementation and maintenance, while maintaining high security standards and following secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise in embedded systems, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. You'll be working in either Northridge, CA, or Redmond, WA, with relocation benefits provided. The position requires 5 days per week onsite presence and U.S. citizenship due to government requirements.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 per year based on location, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced embedded software engineers who want to make a significant impact in space technology while working on challenging and meaningful projects.
