Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Simulation Foundations

Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative by Amazon to launch a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) with the mission of providing fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Simulation Foundations team, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing distributed systems that enable Kuiper to operate within realistic virtual environments at scale. You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies and follow industry-best software engineering practices.

The role involves building cloud services and APIs that orchestrate software simulations for Kuiper devices, including satellites, ground gateways, and customer terminals. You'll be responsible for creating low-latency, highly scalable architectures that are crucial for delivering high-quality internet service to customers. The systems you build will facilitate constellation-wide simulations for experimentation and inform critical business decisions.

Your work will directly impact the development and testing of software that will ultimately be deployed on orbital hardware. You'll be involved in creating tools for test execution across various environments, from virtualized hardware to real hardware-in-the-loop simulations and on-orbit testing. This position requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and a strong background in software development.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 per year, depending on location and experience, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
