Project Kuiper is an innovative initiative by Amazon to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll be a key member of the core technical team responsible for building the ground-based traffic processing pipelines that connect Kuiper's satellite network to the external world. This role offers an exciting leadership opportunity to architect and build software from the ground up while shaping the team's engineering culture.
You'll collaborate across multiple teams to build networking functions on AWS cloud infrastructure and establish best practices for software development processes. Your responsibilities include leading teams, developing code, building CI/CD pipelines, implementing test automation, and creating monitoring dashboards for system health.
The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, develop, deploy, and operate infrastructure. You'll mentor junior team members while engineering reliable cloud services that provide connectivity for customers. The position focuses on developing features that enhance service quality and security.
The team culture emphasizes work-life balance and inclusivity. Amazon's commitment to diversity is reflected in their 14 Leadership Principles and various learning initiatives like Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon conferences.
Requirements include 5+ years of professional software development experience, strong programming skills, and experience leading design/architecture of scalable systems. Knowledge of AWS, C/C++ or Rust, Linux system programming, and network troubleshooting is preferred.
