Description For Support Engineer

Amazon's Denied Party Screening (DPS) team is seeking a Support Engineer to join their mission of preventing denied entities from transacting with Amazon businesses. This role combines technical support expertise with DevOps practices, focusing on building and maintaining automated screening mechanisms that process over half a billion events daily.

The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of customer support and systems engineering, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while collaborating closely with software development teams. You'll be responsible for establishing and executing Tier-1 and Tier-3 support models, with a strong emphasis on automation and operational excellence.

This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology at scale, implementing machine learning-powered detection and resolution frameworks. You'll become deeply familiar with current systems and solutions, while having the chance to improve and automate existing processes. Responsibilities For Support Engineer

  • Work with software development teams to setup Tier-1 and Tier-3 support models
  • Write SOPs and execute them as part of operations procedure and SLA
  • Implement automation solutions using scripting languages
  • Provide support on operational issues
  • Define processes for providing tier-1 support
  • Identify and automate manual steps to improve overall productivity
  • Develop tools and scripts to automate manual operational excellence steps

Requirements For Support Engineer

Linux
Python
  • 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow
  • Experience scripting in modern program languages and experience in Unix
  • Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting RESTful web API calls
