Description For System Dev Engineer, Amazon Robotics

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented System Development Engineer to join their team in building a revolutionary automation system for warehouse operations. This role combines software engineering, controls systems, and robotics expertise to design and develop sophisticated automation solutions. The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge robotics technology while leading both internal and external engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in control systems and industrial automation, with the ability to design and optimize complex systems. You'll be responsible for developing controls code, troubleshooting systems, and implementing optimizations that directly impact Amazon's warehouse operations. Responsibilities For System Dev Engineer, Amazon Robotics

  • Design and improve system controls architecture including machine control code, networking, electrical design and safety design
  • Develop controls code utilizing structured text and ladder-logic on Codesys and RSLogix 5000 platforms
  • Identify and implement system optimizations
  • Debug internal and field issues
  • Develop tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Contribute to value engineering of system's electrical and controls hardware components
  • 25% travel expected to support onsite system testing

Requirements For System Dev Engineer, Amazon Robotics

Python
Java
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals
  • Experience programming with modern languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
  • BS / MS Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens PLCs, and/or Soft PLCs/IPCs
  • 6+ years of experience in control systems or industrial automation
  • Experience with IEC standards for electrical controls for robotics
  • Experience with Functional Safety standards
  • Solid debugging skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
