System Development Engineer, Amazon Gift Cards

Amazon's Payments Acceptance and Experience (PAE) team is seeking a System Development Engineer to join their Gift Cards division. This role is crucial in building and maintaining Amazon's payment infrastructure, which processes transactions at an unprecedented scale. The team's mission is to create the most trusted, intuitive, and accessible payment experience globally, enabling customers to pay both on and off Amazon using their preferred payment methods.

As a System Development Engineer, you'll be working on large-scale distributed systems that power Amazon's "cash register," focusing on improving customer experience across the globe. The role involves supporting various payment features including installments, reward points, in-store payments, pay on delivery, credit/debit payments, seller disbursements, and gift cards.

You'll be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving production software issues, developing automation tools, and implementing fixes for internally developed code primarily in Java and Ruby on Rails. The position requires strong technical skills in systems engineering fundamentals and experience with modern programming languages.
