AWS Managed Operations (MO) is seeking a System Development Engineer II to join their AWSOM Team. Founded in April 2023, MO focuses on reducing operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects. The role combines hands-on systems operations with software engineering to improve reliability and efficiency of AWS regions.
As an SDE II, you'll split your time between operating production systems and implementing long-term improvements. A typical week involves root cause analysis, bug fixing, executing critical production changes, and developing automation to enhance system reliability. You'll work with some of the largest software systems ever built, focusing on availability, performance, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of systems architecture experience and strong programming skills in languages like Python/Java/Bash/Perl. You should be passionate about continuous learning and diving deep into complex cloud systems. AWS values diverse experiences and backgrounds, encouraging applications even if you don't meet all preferred qualifications.
AWS offers comprehensive benefits including work-life harmony, mentorship opportunities, and career development resources. You'll join an inclusive culture with employee-led affinity groups and ongoing learning experiences. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud technology while making a significant impact on AWS's infrastructure reliability.
If you're excited about balancing hands-on operations with strategic engineering improvements, and want to help shape the future of cloud computing at AWS, this role offers the perfect blend of technical challenges and growth opportunities.
