System Development Engineer II, Intelligent Cloud Hosting (ICON)

Amazon's Intelligent Cloud Hosting (ICON) Team is seeking a System Development Engineer to join their Seattle-based team. This role is crucial in managing Amazon's vast web infrastructure, which includes all global marketplaces, partner portals, and consumer experiences like Kindle, Alexa, and Amazon Video.

The ICON team performs cloud infrastructure management at an unprecedented scale, handling everything from website hosting to transaction processing. They're responsible for ensuring smooth operation of payments, tax, contracts, returns, inventory, and notifications systems. The team operates across multiple global locations including Seattle, New York, Dublin, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

As a System Development Engineer II, you'll work with Linux systems and focus on creating and maintaining strategic SRE tools built on AWS technology. These tools are essential for deploying, monitoring, and operating hundreds of thousands of services that power Amazon's distributed architecture. The role involves working with predictive analytics, monitoring systems, problem diagnosis, and automated repair solutions.

The position requires strong Linux expertise, solid networking fundamentals, and experience with load balancers and routers. You'll need to be proficient in programming languages like Python and Java, with a focus on distributed systems and scaled web applications.
