Description For Systems Development Engineer II, AWS ADC Storage Services

The Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC), AWS for Government, Storage Services team is seeking a cleared Systems Development Engineer to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud computing technologies, helping U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud solutions. You'll be part of the team operating Amazon Elastic File System (EFS), Amazon FSx, and Amazon S3 on Outposts, managing some of the most sensitive customer data.

As a Systems Development Engineer II, you'll be responsible for troubleshooting complex system operations at both server and enterprise levels. You'll work on developing and implementing new features for these services, directly impacting some of the world's largest-scaled systems. The role requires a solid foundation in multiple operating systems, networking, and cloud services.

You'll be working in AWS's fast-paced environment where the team "Works Hard, Has Fun, Makes History." Daily activities include deep-diving into customer issues, analyzing metrics, consulting with Amazon's top engineers, and developing automated solutions for operational challenges. You'll gain invaluable experience in cloud computing while working with a world-class team of passionate professionals.

The position requires maintaining an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance and demands expertise in systems engineering fundamentals. You'll be part of AWS's Utility Computing (UC) organization, supporting critical services like Amazon S3, EC2, and other innovative products that set AWS apart in the industry.

  • Deep dive to root cause customer issues
  • Investigate metric trends

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
