Description For UPS Battery Maintenance Engineer, DCC Communities

We are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class UPS Battery Testing Technician to join our growing Operations Services team. The team responsibilities include maintaining critical equipment in support of providing best in class availability for our data center customers. The UPS Battery Testing Technician will work closely with both internal customers, external vendors as well as coordinate regional resources to facilitate smooth work execution. This critical role is responsible for the preventative maintenance of UPS batteries in our data centers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Apply preventative maintenance testing techniques for UPS batteries across data centers
  • Act as a safety ambassador within the team and promote safe working practices
  • Comply with all security protocols
  • Interact with engineers, technicians, project managers, and management daily
  • Develop detailed solutions to complex problems while managing timelines and costs
  • Build and maintain good working relationships across all organizational levels
  • Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions
  • Execute predictive and preventive maintenance programs
  • Provide support for LSE, weather events, planned, and unplanned outages
  • Offer cross-functional support for ATS and Non-destructive testing teams

The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, detail-oriented, possesses strong communication skills, and has significant experience supporting critical infrastructure. They should be able to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions for operational challenges. An expert-level understanding of battery systems is desirable.

This role is part of AWS Infrastructure Services, which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers and the equipment that ensures customers have continual access to AWS services.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in data center or mission-critical facility operations, or
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a relevant technical discipline, coupled with military or trade school training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in leading and managing mission-critical facility operations
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Substantial work experience in critical environments, preferably data centers
  • Proficiency in identifying safety concerns and maintaining a secure work environment in compliance with NFPA 70E guidelines
