Description For Entry Level Software Engineer

Amentum, a century-old provider of operational support services to the U.S. government, is seeking Entry Level Software Engineers to join their USN advanced technology development team. This role, based in either Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, VA (one hour south of Washington D.C.), offers an exciting opportunity to work in an R&D setting with occasional telecommute options.

The position involves developing graphical user interfaces, implementing software updates using C++ and various DevOps tools, and supporting test events through travel opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or Physics, along with an Active Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).

This role is perfect for someone starting their software engineering career who wants to work on advanced technology development for the U.S. Navy. You'll be part of a team using modern development practices including Agile methodologies and industry-standard tools like GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.

  • Developing graphical user interfaces for local tools with the team of users
  • Developing software updates using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab and other DevOps tools
  • Supporting test events through travel opportunities
  • Plans, performs, and leads software design, coding, and testing

Requirements For Entry Level Software Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Computers Science, or Physics
  • Active Secret US Government Clearance and US Citizenship
  • Knowledge in software requirements, design, code, testing, debugging, SDLC, architecture, and documentation
  • Experience in Agile software development environment
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with source code tracking tools (Git, Bitbucket)
  • C++ or C# programming skills
  • Ability to commute to Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, VA
