Amgen, a leading biotechnology company since 1980, is offering an exciting 8-month co-op opportunity for a Software Engineer in their Large Molecule Discovery - Technology team at their Burnaby, Canada location. This position represents a unique intersection of software engineering and biotechnology, where you'll be directly contributing to pharmaceutical research and development.

The role is based at Amgen British Columbia, a research center of excellence primarily focused on therapeutic antibodies discovery. As a Software Engineering Co-op student, you'll be working within the Technology (Internal IT) department, where you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions, automating laboratory instruments, and creating data visualization tools. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to work directly with scientists, understanding their laboratory processes and translating them into efficient technical solutions.

Key responsibilities include developing and optimizing software systems, implementing data pipelines, automating laboratory instruments, and creating data visualization tools. You'll be working in a collaborative environment, interacting with both technology specialists and scientists to deliver effective solutions that accelerate scientific processes and advance the use of AI and ML in the discovery pipeline.

The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related program, with strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C#. Familiarity with data pipeline tools and data visualization frameworks is advantageous. The position requires excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
