Description For Entry Level Water Resources Engineer

AMT Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Water Resources Engineer to join their growing team in Christiansburg, VA. Starting in May 2025 upon graduation, this role involves providing water resources engineering support for state regulated dams, flood mitigation, stormwater management, and other water resources planning and design projects. The position offers an excellent work/life balance with a hybrid schedule, combining office and remote work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and reporting
  • Collecting and analyzing data for mapping and reporting
  • Designing open and closed drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, and erosion and sediment controls
  • Assisting in the preparation of engineering documents
  • Obtaining permit approvals from state and local agencies
  • Establishing positive working relationships with team members

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus in Water Resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling software
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam preferred
  • Design knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and communication skills

Responsibilities For Entry Level Water Resources Engineer

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and reporting
  • Collect and Analyze data for mapping and reporting
  • Design of open and closed drainage systems, stormwater management facilities and erosion and sediment controls
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents (plans, reports, cost estimates and specifications) for Advertisement and Construction
  • Obtain permit approvals from state and local agencies
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members

Requirements For Entry Level Water Resources Engineer

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus in Water Resources
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling software
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam preferred
  • Design knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent organizational, coordination and communication skills, both written and verbal
