As a Sr. Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing high-availability services that enhance the performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency of marketplace operations. You'll collaborate with Data Science teams and other technical experts to advance data-driven decision-making, while also building and optimizing search algorithms focused on personalization and user experience.
The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in organizations with a solid engineering process, emphasizing highly scalable and performant services. Strong skills in Go, Ruby, and TypeScript (or a willingness to learn) are essential, along with experience in designing RESTful APIs and managing relational databases.
Apartment List offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $113,000 to $162,000 (depending on location), plus bonus and equity. Responsibilities For Sr. Software Engineer, Marketplace
- Build and maintain the high-performance services that power Apartment List's core platform
- Work in a small team of like-minded software engineers
- Write robust backend services in Go and Ruby
- See your ideas implemented in a product that helps renters find home
- Develop high-availability services that enhance the performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency of marketplace operations
- Collaborate with teams such as Data Science and other technical experts to advance data-driven decision-making
- Build and optimize search algorithms focused on personalization and user experience
- Influence the broader engineering organization through engineering best practices
- Collaborate with other technical specialists to improve developer experience
Requirements For Sr. Software Engineer, Marketplace
- At least 4 years of experience in organizations with a solid engineering process and an emphasis on delivering highly scalable and highly performant services
- Incredible attention to detail and ability to implement creative and technically sound solutions to product challenges
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
- Experience with relational database design and management
- Ability to tackle problems at all levels of software development, including feature implementation, software build and delivery processes, and developer productivity and velocity improvements
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals
- Constant learner, always on the lookout for learning and trying new technologies
- Experience with Go, Ruby, and Typescript programming languages – or a willingness to learn
- Experience with search engines (Elastic or Solr) and/or experience working with a data science team (preferred but not required)
