AIML - Machine Learning Engineer - Special Projects

Apple is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer for their Special Projects team to lead the development and evaluation of novel user-facing conversational features leveraging multimodal capabilities of state-of-the-art foundation models. The role involves designing and implementing machine learning algorithms, leveraging multi-modal foundation models for rapid prototyping, developing evaluation strategies, shepherding data collection efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to evolve prototypes into production systems like Siri and Apple Intelligence features.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing ML algorithms for interactive conversational features
• Utilizing multi-modal foundation models for rapid prototyping and iteration
• Developing evaluation strategies to translate product requirements into objective metrics
• Managing data collection and evaluation efforts
• Collaborating with hardware engineering, software engineering, and design teams

The ideal candidate should have:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or other STEM majors (PhD preferred)
• 2+ years of hands-on industry experience with ML/NLP systems (4+ years preferred)
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow)
• Experience with foundation models use and evaluation
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
