AIML - Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Siri and Information Intelligence

The AIML Information Intelligence team at Apple is at the forefront of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing innovation. This team develops the universal search engine powering features across Apple products including Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, and Lookup, while also advancing state-of-the-art generative AI technologies based on Large Language Models.

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you'll be working on large-scale machine learning and deep learning R&D to improve Open Domain Question Answering and Summarization capabilities. The role involves developing sophisticated machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to understand user queries, retrieve and rank relevant documents, and synthesize information to provide direct answers that best satisfy user intent.

You'll be part of a fast-paced group shaping upcoming Apple products, working with researchers and data scientists to develop, fine-tune, and evaluate domain-specific Large Language Models. The position offers the opportunity to conduct applied research in generative AI and transform cutting-edge research into production-ready technologies that impact hundreds of millions of users.

The ideal candidate will have strong machine learning and deep learning fundamentals, with hands-on experience in fine-tuning deep learning and large language models. You'll work with state-of-the-art techniques in LLM fine-tuning, including Supervised Fine-tuning, Preference-based fine-tuning, and Parameter efficient fine-tuning techniques.
