CAD Extraction Engineer

Apple's Silicon Technologies group is seeking a CAD Extraction Engineer to join their team working on next-generation, high-performance processor and system-on-chip (SoC) development. This role combines software development with hardware design expertise, focusing on parasitic extraction and analysis for silicon designs.

As a member of the CAD team, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining parasitic extraction workflows, performing RC analysis, and ensuring accuracy in post-layout simulations. You'll work with advanced process technologies and collaborate closely with EDA vendors to enhance capabilities and solve technical challenges.

The role requires deep understanding of parasitic modeling and circuit behavior in advanced process technologies. You'll be developing RC-aware methodologies for design optimization and creating software solutions that enable other Apple engineers to develop products used by millions of customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining parasitics extraction flow for silicon designs
• Performing RC analysis to diagnose and debug parasitic effects
• Ensuring parasitic RLC accuracy in post-layout simulations
• Working with EDA vendors on technical solutions
• Developing RC-aware methodology for design optimization

Required qualifications:

• BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with post-layout custom design flow (LVS, Extraction, Simulations)
• Expertise with extraction tools like StarRC and Quantus
• Deep understanding of cellular/wireless design RC accuracy
• Scripting skills in Shell, Perl, Python, and TCL
• Understanding of foundry PDK collaterals
• Problem-solving mindset and positive teamwork attitude
• Experience in big data analysis is a plus
