Description For Engineering Manager, AppleCare Field Diagnostics

As the Manager of Field Diagnostics Engineering at Apple, you will lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality hardware and software diagnostic solutions that support field repair technicians and enhance the Apple customer ownership experience. You will be at the forefront of defining the future of device-based diagnostics for various Apple hardware products, developing next-generation diagnostic tools that will be in use for the next decade.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading efforts to define and develop innovative diagnostic solutions
  • Building and nurturing partnerships with multi-functional teams within and outside of AppleCare
  • Driving technical innovation and ensuring designs persevere through technological advancements
  • Managing and growing a team of skilled engineers
  • Collaborating with various teams to understand requirements and identify design and engineering impacts
  • Articulating complex technical concepts to multi-functional teams and leaders

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of innovation, strong collaboration skills, excellent communication, and a passion for enhancing the end customer experience. This role requires a hands-on, disciplined approach and the ability to succeed in a challenging environment.

You'll be working in the Support and Service team, contributing to Apple's commitment to providing exceptional customer support and service. Requirements For Engineering Manager, AppleCare Field Diagnostics

Linux
  • 10 years in software development, with at least 4 years in a software organization management role
  • Experience in computer / hardware architecture
  • Experienced with git and other source version control software
  • Proven track record of driving technical innovation
  • Effective collaboration with multi-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, grow, and mentor strong teams
  • Solution-oriented work ethic with flexibility in supporting multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields
