Description For ESD Engineer

As an ESD Engineer, you will take ownership of the ESD and Latch-Up requirements of all ICs developed by and for Apple. This highly visible role involves ensuring silicon meets Apple's ESD specifications and manufacturing requirements, working closely with diverse internal teams and external vendors.

The position requires an innovative mindset and strong technical fundamentals in ESD design. You'll be responsible for defining methodologies, designing protection devices, developing test structures, and managing sign-off reviews. The role offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge challenges while contributing to Apple's reputation for quality and innovation.

Key responsibilities include developing ESD methodologies, designing protection circuits, creating test structures, establishing design rules, and maintaining device libraries. You'll collaborate across teams and with external partners to ensure all silicon meets Apple's exacting standards.

Responsibilities For ESD Engineer

  • Define ESD methodology for all silicon developed by Apple
  • Design ESD protection devices and circuits
  • Develop test structures for ESD/LUP properties
  • Develop design rules based on Si characterization data
  • Collaborate with foundry on ESD library development
  • Maintain ESD device library
  • Generate and review ESD/LUP testing plans
  • Manage sign-off reviews
  • Drive ESD/LUP related debug activities

Requirements For ESD Engineer

  • BS and 3+ years relevant industry experience
  • Deep understanding of transistor device characteristics
  • Solid understanding of ESD testing models (HBM, CDM, MM, IEC-61000-4-2)
  • Knowledge of ESD circuit design techniques and topologies
  • Experience with design/layout EDA tools
  • Knowledge of ESD checking tools
  • Experience with Si processes
  • Experience with ESD/LUP test and characterization equipment
  • Strong initiative and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
