Apple is seeking a Senior FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Engineer to lead structural, thermal and dynamic analysis of touch sensor, flat panel display and their integration processes. The role involves generating FEA/analytical models, performing various analyses, owning material characterization and testing plans, coordinating with other analysts, communicating results, driving failure analysis, and proposing solutions based on analysis data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solid mechanics of materials, proficiency in FEA software, and experience in advanced FEA analysis for high-volume consumer electronic products. Key Responsibilities:
- Generate FEA/analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies
- Perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis
- Own and drive material characterization and testing plans
- Coordinate with other analysts to integrate module models into larger system assemblies
- Communicate analysis results to team members and management
- Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments
- Propose solutions to problems based on analysis data
- Generate engineering specifications and build processes for early analysis and design validation
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or Mechanics of Materials
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Solid fundamentals in mechanics of materials
- Proficiency in FEA software (Abaqus or ANSYS)
- Experience in static, dynamic, and thermal-mechanical simulations
- Knowledge of material constitutive models
- Clear communication skills and collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in advanced FEA analysis for consumer electronic products
- Experience with flat panel display, touch sensor, and lamination processes
- High proficiency in Abaqus, ANSYS, and Altair Hyperworks
- Applied knowledge of flex circuits, ACF bonding, adhesives, and material science
- Experience with structural optimization based on FEA automation or machine learning
