Description For Instrument Systems Design Engineer

Apple is seeking an Instrument Systems Design Engineer to join their Product Integrity Group in Boulder, Colorado. This role combines hardware engineering and software development to design, develop and deploy calibration and test instrumentation systems for Apple's products.

The position offers an opportunity to impact products across Apple's entire portfolio by working with multiple functional teams during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase. The engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining automated instrumentation systems for product calibration and testing, from development through mass production.

Key responsibilities include architecting instrumentation systems, collaborating with mechanical engineers on fixtures and automation, developing software for system control and automation, implementing audio processing algorithms, and conducting data analysis. The role requires strong technical skills in both hardware and software, with experience in areas like DSP, automation, and large-scale data analysis.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working with electro-mechanical systems, strong programming abilities in C/C++ and Python, and understanding of consumer electronics components. They should be comfortable working across teams and with external vendors, managing multiple priorities, and traveling occasionally (up to 10%).

This position offers competitive compensation ($128,300 - $237,500 base salary) plus additional benefits including comprehensive medical coverage, stock programs, education reimbursement, and potential bonuses. It's an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work on cutting-edge consumer electronics while contributing to Apple's high standards of product quality.
