Apple is seeking a forward-thinking Physical Design Engineer to join their Hardware team in Cupertino. This role focuses on physical design of high-performance PHY designs from RTL to final GDSII delivery. The position involves working with architecture, CAD, timing and logic design teams to deliver outstanding PHY designs.
The ideal candidate will contribute to all phases of physical design, including generating timing constraints, building chip floor-plans, developing clock networks, and performing place and route operations. They will work on implementing ECOs to fix various violations and participate in establishing methodologies for correct design construction.

Responsibilities For Physical Design Engineer
- Generate block/chip level static timing constraints
- Build full chip floor-plan including pin placement
- Develop clock network guidelines
- Perform block level place and route
- Generate and Implement ECOs
- Run Physical Design verification flow
- Establish CAD and physical design methodologies
- Assist in flow development for chip integration
Requirements For Physical Design Engineer
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Deep design experience in high PHY and/or SOC designs
- Knowledge of industry standards in Physical Design
- Experience with Power-grid and Clock specifications
- Understanding of Physical construction and Verification
- Knowledge of HDL languages like Verilog
- Understanding of scripting languages (Perl/Tcl)
