Description For Physical Design PPA Engineer

As a Physical Design PPA (Performance, Power, Area) Engineer at Apple, you'll be at the center of our SOC design effort, collaborating across all fields to deliver functional products to millions of customers quickly. You'll be responsible for generating automation and infrastructure to scale and improve the efficiency and reliability of PPA regression and problems. Your role involves deep diving to root cause and address unexpected results, working with CAD and design teams to drive improvements in production design flows, and collaborating cross-functionally with design, power, post-silicon, and CAD teams to deliver on PPA goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating automation and infrastructure for PPA regression
  • Root cause analysis of unexpected results
  • Collaborating with various teams to improve production design flows
  • Working on state-of-the-art ASICs
  • Integrating and developing new insights in SOC design

You'll be part of the Digital Design Engineering group, turning imaginative and revolutionary ideas into reality. This role requires a strong understanding of the RTL2GDSII flow, hands-on experience in PPA analysis, familiarity with ASIC integration flows, and experience with industry-standard synthesis, physical design, and STA tools.

Responsibilities For Physical Design PPA Engineer

  • Generate automation and infrastructure for PPA regression
  • Perform deep dive analysis to root cause and address unexpected results
  • Collaborate with CAD and design teams to improve production design flows
  • Work cross-functionally with design, power, post-silicon, and CAD teams
  • Contribute to the design of state-of-the-art ASICs
  • Integrate and develop new insights in SOC design

Requirements For Physical Design PPA Engineer

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong understanding of RTL2GDSII flow and concepts
  • Hands-on experience in PPA (Performance, Power, Area) analysis
  • Familiarity with ASIC integration flows
  • Experience with industry standard synthesis, physical design and STA tools
  • Strong scripting skills using Perl/Tcl
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
