Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure Focus

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with an infrastructure focus to join their R&D team. The company is the force behind Astro, a leading unified DataOps platform powered by Apache Airflow®, serving over 700 enterprise customers worldwide.

The role sits within the dataplane management team, which is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers customer workloads. You'll be working on sophisticated software that manages the automation and lifecycle of hundreds (eventually thousands) of Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud environments.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure, developing features like workload identity, multitenancy, cross-region disaster recovery, and cloud quota management. You'll be collaborating closely with core runtime, platform, and other product teams to deliver a seamless experience for managing Apache Airflow at scale.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in building and operating large-scale SaaS infrastructures, with expertise in languages like Golang or Java. Knowledge of Kubernetes and distributed systems is highly valued, as is the ability to design secure, resilient systems that can integrate with various customer environments.
