Description For Laser Engineer

At Atom Computing, we build quantum computers using arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms that will empower customers to achieve unprecedented computational breakthroughs. We are seeking a Laser Engineer to help us manage and scale up our laser systems for our quantum computers, increasing reliability and performance.

The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise to laser and optical projects with the goal of maximizing performance and robustness. They will gather project requirements, turn them into action plans, and ensure the team completes tasking on-time with proper prioritization.

Key qualifications include:

  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience (advanced degree inclusive) using and maintaining optical, opto-mechanical and/or laser systems
  • Expertise with current state-of-the-art lasers/amplifiers and nonlinear optical materials
  • Experience with data analysis and engineering change documentation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-growing, early-stage startup environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Additional desirable skills include familiarity with Python, Git, Zemax, Onshape, and/or Solidworks/CAD for designing optical and optomechanical systems.

Atom Computing offers a competitive salary range between $120,000 - $155,000, commensurate with experience, along with an annual bonus and incentive stock options for equity in the company.
