Description For Software engineer, Tokyo

Aviator is revolutionizing how software engineers work by building engineering productivity supertools for the modern era. As a YC-backed startup founded by ex-Googlers, we're creating tools that automate necessary-but-mundane developer workflows, helping engineers save up to 10 hours per week.

We're seeking an early fullstack engineer to join our nimble team in Tokyo, Japan. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with founders, shape product vision, and solve real engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will combine software expertise, system design knowledge, and HCI proficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with users to understand development needs
  • Building prototypes and final products
  • Working with founders on technical requirements
  • Driving product initiatives
  • Exploring new development areas

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has shipped full-stack products professionally or personally
  • Thrives in low-structure environments
  • Is passionate about engineering tools
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Ideally has experience with internal engineering tools

Our impressive customer base includes companies like Doordash, Square, Benchling, and Figma. We're well-funded with significant enterprise revenue and backed by notable Silicon Valley investors including Elad Gil and Lenny Rachitsky.

The role offers significant impact from day one, the chance to solve real engineering problems, and ownership of product vision. You'll be working in-person in Tokyo as part of a team that values transparency and innovation.
