Description For Network Development Engineer III, Network Fabric Engineering - Frontier

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Senior Network Development Engineer to join their Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. This role is crucial in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS services across multiple global datacenters. The position focuses on delivering simple, sustainable, and repeatable network solutions while driving the stability of next-generation IP networks.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for creating network designs and deployment procedures that solve complex requirements. You'll work with leadership to select projects supporting the team's mission, design ahead of customer needs, and create comprehensive documentation including HLD and LLD documents. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps and provide support to deployment teams.

AWS Core Networking owns the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected, balancing efficiency, performance, and reliability. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, working on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.

The position requires strong expertise in IP networking fundamentals, major internet routing protocols, and network operating systems. You'll need significant experience with Unix/Linux systems and scripting abilities in Python, Perl, or shell. The role involves participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation and occasional travel to data center sites.

  • Create network designs, services, and deployment procedures
  • Design ahead of customer or technology needs
  • Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents
  • Create and automate deployment processes
  • Work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions
  • Participate in 24x7 team on-call rotation
  • Manage customers during problem resolution
  • Travel to data center/network sites as needed

Requirements For Network Development Engineer III, Network Fabric Engineering - Frontier

Linux
Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in IP protocols and network analysis
  • 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS)
  • 8+ years working with major network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Junos)
  • 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and scripting in Python, Perl, shell
