Description For Software Engineer, Platform

Beam (https://beam.cloud) is revolutionizing how developers build and run AI and LLM applications on serverless GPUs. As a fast-growing pre-series A company, we're enabling hundreds of teams to power their production applications without managing infrastructure.

We're seeking a Platform Engineer to tackle exciting technical challenges:

  • Deep systems development work with container runtimes and OCI image formats
  • Implementing efficient workload distribution across GPU clusters on multiple clouds
  • Working with cutting-edge tech like GPU checkpoint restore and CRIU
  • Building and maintaining our Go-based backend infrastructure with some Python components

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team that's solving complex distributed systems challenges while working directly with customers. You'll be part of building the infrastructure that's making ML more accessible to developers, moving away from academic tools to production-ready solutions.

The role offers competitive compensation ($173K-$202K + 0.25-1.00% equity) and comprehensive benefits including health coverage and professional development opportunities. You'll work from our Brooklyn office in a hybrid setup (minimum 3 days in-office) alongside passionate engineers who are enthusiastic about developer tools and cloud native technologies.

The ideal candidate brings 3-5 years of distributed systems experience, strong Kubernetes knowledge, and expertise in statically typed languages like Go or Rust. You should be comfortable with gRPC, Helm/Kustomize, and Terraform, and excited about collaborating directly with customers to shape the future of ML infrastructure.
