Description For Software Engineer, Full Stack (Notebook Canvas)

Benchling is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join their Notebook Canvas team, working on their widely-used digital lab notebook product that helps accelerate life sciences research. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and biotechnology, building tools that scientists use daily to solve humanity's most pressing problems.

The position involves developing both frontend and backend components of Benchling's R&D Cloud platform, with a focus on creating intuitive interfaces and robust services that enable scientists to plan, document, and share their research seamlessly. You'll be working with React and modern web technologies, while collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers.

As a member of the Notebook Canvas team, you'll have the opportunity to build large-scale projects end-to-end, from initial ideation through to final rollout. The role requires 3+ years of software engineering experience and a strong background in full-stack development, particularly with React or similar JavaScript frameworks. While prior life science knowledge isn't required, a genuine interest in learning about the field is essential.

Benchling offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement with 3 days per week on-site in San Francisco, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, mental health support, and various wellness benefits. The compensation package is competitive, with a base salary range of $165,113 - $223,388, reflecting the company's market-based approach to pay.

This is an excellent opportunity for a software engineer who wants to make a meaningful impact on global health and innovation while working with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative environment. The role combines technical excellence with the satisfaction of building products that accelerate scientific discovery and help solve some of humanity's most challenging problems.
