Description For Simulation Engineer

BorgWarner is seeking a Simulation Engineer for their Bellwood, Illinois location. This role combines remote and office work, requiring the candidate to live within commuting distance of the Bellwood office. The position involves up to 10% domestic travel.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting discrete event simulation for future state scenarios, developing simulation models using Plant Simulation, and implementing lean manufacturing concepts. They will work on creating process plans for powertrain manufacturing, conducting time studies, and performing material flow analysis for machining layouts.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering plus 3 years of relevant experience. Key technical requirements include experience with automotive manufacturing processes, assembly process planning, Plant Simulation software from Siemens Tecnomatix, and object-oriented programming.

Responsibilities For Simulation Engineer

  • Conduct discrete event simulation for future state scenarios
  • Collect and validate data with statistical analysis
  • Develop simulation models using Plant Simulation
  • Create process plans for powertrain manufacturing TAKT time
  • Conduct time studies and line balancing for mixed model production
  • Implement lean manufacturing, Just in Time and SMED concepts
  • Perform material flow analysis and planning for machining layouts
  • Provide regular status updates and participate in team planning
  • Develop customer presentations and reports
  • Perform data acquisition from external files and systems
  • Conduct model optimization techniques
  • Analyze variance, neural networks, and distributed simulation

Requirements For Simulation Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years of experience in related field
  • Experience with automotive manufacturing processes
  • Experience with assembly process planning and lean manufacturing
  • Experience with Plant Simulation software from Siemens Tecnomatix
