Description For Controls Engineer

Brimstone, founded in 2019, is a pioneering company that has developed a breakthrough process to decarbonize cement production, addressing one of the leading drivers of climate change. As a Controls Engineer on the Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing industrial control systems for our innovative facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building infrastructure to support an operating plant
  • Developing and maintaining control system equipment
  • Preparing and reviewing panel designs
  • Specifying servers, OT Networks, SCADA, and PLC systems
  • Creating automation for unsupervised system operation
  • Troubleshooting equipment in a continuous operating environment

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Controls Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant controls engineering experience in process industries
  • Ability to design and implement safety systems up to SIL 2 equivalent
  • Experience with SCADA and PLC platforms
  • Familiarity with various networking protocols and programming languages

Responsibilities For Controls Engineer

  • Build infrastructure to support an operating plant
  • Develop and maintain control system equipment
  • Prepare and review panel designs for systems of varying size and complexity
  • Develop and specify servers, OT Networks, SCADA, and PLC systems
  • Create automation for unsupervised system operation
  • Troubleshoot equipment in a continuous operating environment

Requirements For Controls Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Controls Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant controls engineering experience in process industries
  • Ability to design and implement a safety system up to SIL 2 equivalent
  • Troubleshooting capability with controllers, drives, instruments, and electrical equipment
  • Experience with SCADA platforms (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, etc)
  • Experience with PLC platforms (Siemens, Opto 22, Rockwell, etc)
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and programming languages (ProfiNET, HART, Modbus, TCP/IP, SQL, MQTT, Ladder Logic, Structured text)
  • Demonstration of at least one major system integration for a continuously operating process plant
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
  • Ability to lift general instrumentation up to 20 lbs
