Description For Functional Safety Engineer

Cadence, a leading global electronic design automation company, is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in implementing ISO 26262 safety plans for Silicon Solutions Group (SSG) IP's, including processors, hardware accelerators, and controllers targeted for automotive products. The position offers a competitive salary range of $136,500 to $253,500 with additional benefits.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing ISO 26262 compliant processes, infrastructure, and work products. They will collaborate with customer safety organizations, vendors, external safety experts, and internal product development teams to ensure proper execution and documentation of functional safety processes. This role is part of an agile engineering team focused on delivering safety and cybersecurity solutions per ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 standards for the growing Automotive/ADAS markets.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred) with at least 5 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of microprocessor architecture, hardware accelerator design, and SoC/ASIC design methodologies. Experience with ISO 26262 and safety certification is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities For Functional Safety Engineer

  • Act as Functional Safety Engineer for Cadence/SSG Safety related HW & SW products
  • Create and support functional safety work products according to ISO 26262
  • Collaborate with project engineers, marketing & development team, safety consultants, vendors and customers
  • Work with architecture team on safety features and safety architecture
  • Create/review functional safety documentation
  • Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards

Requirements For Functional Safety Engineer

  • BSEE/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (MS preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Microprocessor, DSP, hardware accelerator architecture/design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of SoC/ASIC design methodologies
