Description For Sensor Software Engineer

CAE USA is seeking a Sensor Software Engineer to join their Defense & Security business unit, focusing on training solutions for U.S. Armed Forces and global partners. This role involves designing and developing real-time aerospace and aircraft systems simulations for military training devices, with a specific focus on Targeting Pods and Electronic Warfare solutions. The position offers hands-on, full life cycle software engineering experience in a meaningful defense context.

The ideal candidate will work within the Passive Sensors team, contributing to the development and deployment of sophisticated training systems. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining simulation models, interfacing with platform applications, and handling product-level integration. The role requires strong technical skills in C++, Linux, and embedded systems development, combined with the ability to work independently while following senior engineers' direction.

Responsibilities For Sensor Software Engineer

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models
  • Apply software engineering principles within budget and schedule commitments
  • Work with senior engineers with limited direction
  • Maintain, upgrade, and improve existing Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models
  • Analyze legacy models to understand functionality and modify for new requirements
  • Contribute to team environment
  • Complete software support documentation

Requirements For Sensor Software Engineer

Linux
  • DoD Secret Clearance required
  • Must be able to obtain Special Program Access
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming techniques
  • Experience with developing software for Linux
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Strong C/C++ skills
