Description For Media Software Engineer (Real-Time)

Cantina, founded by Sean Parker, is revolutionizing social interaction with its advanced AI character creator platform. As a Media Software Engineer (Real-Time) at Cantina, you'll be at the forefront of creating one of the world's most advanced platforms for real-time and streaming media.

The role involves enhancing and extending Cantina's media platform, focusing on audio and video infrastructure that enables real-time interactions in the app. You'll work on adding new features for voice and video interactions, improving WebRTC-based frameworks for various clients, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities include developing high-performance, high-quality software, working on globally distributed infrastructure, and optimizing device-level audio and video processing frameworks. You'll also engage with advanced machine learning techniques, particularly in speech recognition and synthesis.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in computer science, proficiency in C or C++, and experience with WebRTC or other media-related technologies. Familiarity with iOS and Android development, as well as Node.js, is a plus.

Cantina offers a competitive salary range of $120,000-$180,000, along with excellent benefits including comprehensive health coverage, a monthly stipend, generous PTO, and equity opportunities. While remote work is possible, the Media Engineering team strongly prefers candidates available to work in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities For Media Software Engineer (Real-Time)

  • Enhance and extend the Cantina media platform
  • Add new features and capabilities for voice and video interactions
  • Improve and maintain custom WebRTC-based frameworks for iOS, Android, and web clients
  • Collect and analyze metrics relating to system performance and user behavior
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver new features and enhancements
  • Work with application development teams to define APIs for media stack integration

Requirements For Media Software Engineer (Real-Time)

Node.js
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Experience with C or C++
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and concurrent/multithreaded programming
  • Exposure to system programming concepts (networking, memory management, distributed systems)
  • Object-oriented programming and design skills
  • Interest in solving challenging problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques, particularly in speech recognition and synthesis
  • Previous experience with WebRTC, streaming protocols, or other media-related technologies
  • Familiarity with audio or video processing techniques and algorithms
  • Experience developing software for iOS and Android
  • Familiarity with building services using Node.js
