Description For DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer

Join Cisco's Silicon One team in an exciting DevOps and Infrastructure Engineering role that bridges traditional IT with cutting-edge semiconductor development. As part of this innovative team, you'll be responsible for supporting and optimizing the infrastructure that powers Cisco's world-class silicon device development. The role combines the dynamic environment of a startup with the resources and stability of a global technology leader.

You'll work at the intersection of IT operations and semiconductor engineering, managing critical compute infrastructure, networked storage, and virtualized environments. Your responsibilities will include developing automation solutions, troubleshooting complex systems, and ensuring optimal performance of the development infrastructure. The position requires strong technical skills in Linux administration, Python/Perl scripting, and infrastructure management, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with both IT and engineering teams.

Responsibilities For DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer

  • Bridge the gap between Cisco's central IT organization and the Silicon One engineering teams
  • Collaborate with IT to provision and manage compute infrastructure, networked storage, and virtualized environments
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of compute, storage, and networking systems
  • Develop and maintain custom automation scripts and tooling in Python and Perl
  • Ensure security and access control policies are enforced across systems
  • Partner with silicon development teams to understand evolving needs
  • Support engineers with debugging of infrastructure and EDA tool-related workflow issues
  • Own infrastructure-related data analysis, reporting, and forecasting

Requirements For DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer

MySQL
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Linux systems
  • Completion of relevant IT training or certifications
  • Basic familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and Perl
  • Practical experience with managing compute and storage infrastructure
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Experience with IBM's Spectrum LSF or other job scheduling systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of NetApp NAS storage and NFS performance tuning (preferred)
  • Understanding of HDL workflows (preferred)
  • Experience with LDAP, Perforce, MySQL/MariaDB (preferred)
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills
