Cisco IT is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer specializing in MySQL DB Platform to join their team. This role is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and automation of database services. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building tools to improve reliability, availability, and scalability of MySQL/NoSQL Cloud Database Platform Offerings
- Enhancing instrumentation to create a comprehensive view of system characteristics
- Developing improvements focused on resilience to meet and exceed SLOs
- Collaborating with the Service Assurance team to modernize monitoring and alerting systems
- Creating new tools for proactive issue detection
- Working with engineers to identify and resolve root causes
- Influencing and designing new architectures for large-scale enterprise systems
- Maintaining services by monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-8 years of technical expertise
- Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture (Community and Enterprise)
- Experience with load balancers, MySQL Router, HA Proxy, Amazon S3, InnoDB Cluster, and observability tools
- Additional experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
- Understanding of IT processes including architecture, design, implementation, and operations
- Experience with CI/CD frameworks and tools like Git and Jenkins
- Familiarity with automation using Python and Database Lifecycle Management
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes
