Site Reliability Engineer – MySQL DBA - 5 to 8 Years

Cisco IT is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer specializing in MySQL DB Platform to join their team. This role is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and automation of database services. Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and building tools to improve reliability, availability, and scalability of MySQL/NoSQL Cloud Database Platform Offerings
• Enhancing instrumentation to create a comprehensive view of system characteristics
• Developing improvements focused on resilience to meet and exceed SLOs
• Collaborating with the Service Assurance team to modernize monitoring and alerting systems
• Creating new tools for proactive issue detection
• Working with engineers to identify and resolve root causes
• Influencing and designing new architectures for large-scale enterprise systems
• Maintaining services by monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5-8 years of technical expertise
• Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture (Community and Enterprise)
• Experience with load balancers, MySQL Router, HA Proxy, Amazon S3, InnoDB Cluster, and observability tools
• Additional experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
• Understanding of IT processes including architecture, design, implementation, and operations
• Experience with CI/CD frameworks and tools like Git and Jenkins
• Familiarity with automation using Python and Database Lifecycle Management
• Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes
