Citi, a leading global financial services company, is seeking a Big Data Lead Developer to join their team in Dublin, Ireland. This intermediate-level position plays a crucial role in establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The role offers a hybrid working model with up to 2 days of remote work per week.

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience with Big Data technologies, including Spark, Kafka streaming, and Hadoop. They should possess strong expertise in data file formats, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and modern development practices including Kubernetes and CI/CD processes. The position requires excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, as the role involves mentoring junior team members and working directly with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Big Data Lead Developer

  • Conduct feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, and applications development
  • Monitor and control all phases of development process including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation
  • Provide user and operational support on applications to business users
  • Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis
  • Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards
  • Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts

Requirements For Big Data Lead Developer

Kubernetes
  • 5-8 years of work experience with Big Data technologies
  • Experience with Spark (Scala/Python), Kafka streaming, Hadoop, HDFS
  • Good understanding of data file formats, Impala, Hadoop, Parquet, Avro, Iceberg
  • Experience with web services with Kubernetes, and Version control/CI/CD processes
  • Public cloud experience (preferably AWS)
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
