Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Platform - Payments Platform)

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Payments team, focusing on building innovative payment solutions for the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The role involves architecting and developing a payments platform that processes billions of dollars in payments globally. As part of the Platform Product Group, you'll work on critical infrastructure including Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory systems.

The position requires technical leadership in developing state-of-the-art payment infrastructures, workflows, and APIs that facilitate the transition of traditional currency into crypto. You'll be responsible for providing technical structure to teams, managing project priorities, and mentoring other engineers while maintaining hands-on coding involvement.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in building large distributed systems and scalable APIs. You'll work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps and implement multi-year strategies for Payments engineering.
