The role combines cutting-edge AI technology with practical tax software development, requiring expertise in both machine learning and full-stack engineering. You'll be working on sophisticated projects like their AI tax development agent, building systems that can understand and interpret tax law, and creating intelligent automation solutions that make tax filing simpler and more accurate for millions of users.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of fintech and artificial intelligence, with responsibilities ranging from developing reinforcement learning algorithms to creating user-friendly interfaces that simplify complex tax concepts. The ideal candidate will have 4-6+ years of experience and be comfortable working across the entire technology stack.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer (Applied AI)

  • Build agentic tooling that understands tax law and converts it into software code
  • Ingest and process millions of data points from documents and APIs to auto-fill tax returns
  • Build and extend APIs for partners
  • Create UI for embedded tax platform
  • Review PRs and demo at all-hands
  • Lead projects and mentor teammates

Requirements For Software Engineer (Applied AI)

  • 4-6+ years of professional experience in software engineering or related role
  • Experience exploring, developing, and implementing advanced AI technologies
  • Experience building and deploying reinforcement learning algorithms and machine learning pipelines
  • Track record of taking full ownership of projects from spec to ship to scale
  • Comfortable working across the stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
  • Must be based in San Francisco or New York City, with in-office presence at least 3 days a week
