Comity is seeking a Power System Applications Engineer to develop electric grid and market simulations for informing power contract origination strategies. The role involves working closely with Quantitative Researchers to design and deploy power market simulations and transmission scenarios. You'll extend the research platform with modeling capabilities for fundamental market analysis and apply them to research and development workflows. As an early hire, you'll have significant impact on platform design, research agenda, technology choices, and team culture.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of experience in the electric power industry, or PhD in Electrical Engineering focusing on power systems engineering
- Experience with power system modeling tools (e.g., Dayzer, Tranzer, PowerWorld, PSS/E, Plexos, or open-source alternatives like PyPSA)
- Experience with power load and renewable power generation forecasting
- Proficiency in Python and collaborative software development
- Knowledge of optimal power flow modeling, security constrained economic dispatch (SCED) algorithms, contingency analysis, and transmission shift and loss factors
- Familiarity with modeling energy resources and storage, and US power markets
- Knowledge of optimization techniques (convex, stochastic, robust optimization, linear and convex programming) is a plus
