Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of commercial fusion energy development, offering the fastest and most cost-effective path to this groundbreaking technology. Collaborating with MIT, CFS leverages decades of research and innovative high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology to create compact fusion power plants that can be built quicker and more economically.
Our mission is to rapidly deploy these power plants to address global decarbonization goals. We've assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing, backed by the world's top investors. This positions us uniquely to deliver clean, limitless fusion power to combat climate change.
As a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2025, you'll be integral to our mission. You'll work on cutting-edge projects, potentially including designing and implementing software for data acquisition on SPARC. This internship offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to the development of fusion energy technology.
We're seeking candidates with a strong foundation in programming languages like C++, Python, and Go, as well as experience with control or real-time software. Your hands-on experience from academic research, project teams, hackathons, or previous internships will be valuable. We prioritize self-motivation, quick execution, and excellent problem-solving skills.
This 12-16 week, full-time internship is based in Devens, MA. You'll work 40-50 hours per week, with compensation based on your academic year. While you'll need to arrange your own housing and transportation, you'll gain unparalleled experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on solving one of the world's most pressing challenges.
Join CFS and be part of a team that values integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique. Help us create a sustainable energy future through the power of fusion!
