Staff Software Engineer - Release Platforms

Datadog is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Release Platforms group. This role involves expanding and scaling internal Kubernetes resource management and deployment automation systems. The successful candidate will design and drive high-priority projects to enhance the platform's value, resilience, and scalability across multiple teams. They will provide technical leadership, guide architectural decisions, identify system risks, and collaborate with internal engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and driving high-visibility projects
• Providing technical leadership across platform areas
• Leading architectural platform decisions
• Identifying and addressing system risks and reliability trends
• Contributing to short and long-term planning and roadmaps
• Collaborating with internal teams to understand requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
• A track record of impactful technical initiatives in performance-critical environments
• Significant back-end programming experience
• Experience architecting, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
• A passion for mentoring and coaching other engineers
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
