Description For Lead Software Engineer

Technology is at the heart of Disney's past, present, and future. As a Lead Software Engineer in the Content Catalog team at Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology, you'll be at the forefront of building and advancing the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally.

You'll be responsible for driving the technical architecture, implementation and improvement of services that manage millions of titles delivered to hundreds of millions of viewers. Our services receive content from over 1500 partners and manages who can watch what, when, where and how. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong collaborative skills.

The position offers an opportunity to work with world-class teams building products that shape industry norms and solve complex technical problems. You'll be part of a unified Product Engineering team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, and engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Key technical aspects of the role include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable distributed systems
  • Working with both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Developing with modern frameworks like Spring Boot or Django
  • Implementing DevOps best practices
  • Building resilient and high-performance services

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong knowledge of core CS fundamentals and data structures
  • Experience with web services, preferably AWS
