Description For Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology (DEEPT) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Experimentation & Experience Controls team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of high-scale distributed systems that power A/B testing and feature flagging across Disney's digital platforms. The position combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring expertise in JVM languages and cloud technologies.

The role involves leading an agile squad responsible for delivering critical products that serve millions of concurrent requests with millisecond response times. You'll be working with modern technologies including Scala, functional programming frameworks like Cats Effect and ZIO, and cloud infrastructure. The position offers the chance to make significant technical decisions and influence product direction while mentoring other engineers.

The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of experience, strong distributed systems knowledge, and excellent leadership skills. You'll work in a collaborative environment that values continuous learning and innovation. The compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $159,500 to $213,900 (NYC), plus bonus potential and comprehensive benefits.
